Finding a decent place to tan in New York City can be challenging.
Some New Yorkers like plenty of space to sprawl out; others, a Hudson River view.
And some just like a good old-fashioned New York City rooftop to catch some rays.
So you need a little color? Well, you're in luck because we've got you covered.
We've come up with this, a list of the top 10 places to catch a tan this summer in NYC. Now get out there and have some fun. Oh, and don't forget your suntan lotion, will ya?
1. For a couple of friends: Your best friend's rooftop

We're sure at least one of your best friends lives in a rundown building with one of those basic New York City rooftops accompanied by a sick view.
All you need is to bring a towel and a cold supply of Coronas. Done and done.
2. For big groups: Sheep's Meadow in Central Park

This is a great place to get your tan on with a large group of friends.
Throw your towels out, have a picnic ready, and make sure you get a frisbee to throw around. Plus, if you run out of something, there are always people walking around selling cold drinks.
3. For a lil' swanky privacy: your rich friend's rooftop

If you have a friend with a fancy rooftop, obviously make sure you utilize that.
Some buildings come fully-equipped with loungers, tables, chair sets, and grills. So, BBQ anyone?
4. For those who get bored: Hudson River Park

If you’re one of those sunbathers who finds it mind-numbingly boring to just lay still for 6 hours, then perch yourself somewhere on this stunning 5 mile stretch of waterfront greenery.
Hudson River Park has a ton of sights to take in and activities going on; concerts, movies, playgrounds, sculptures, memorials and many more. Before you even realize it, you'll start noticing some tan lines.
5. For the chill: Brooklyn Bridge Park

This park offers incredible views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan, and it sits not too far from our beloved Smorgasburg which sets up camp with over 75 food vendors at Pier 5 on Saturdays and Sundays.
If you feel yourself starting to fry, you can take a dip in the pop-up pool at Pier 2. This is definitely a non-sceney chill park to get your tan on.
,6. For a quicky: The Highline

It might not be everybody’s first choice to sunbathe and certainly not for an entire day with all those tourists around-- more just like 10 minutes as you're simply walking through it.
This elevated non-traditional park has selection of wooden sun-loungers to tan on, while enjoying some serious people-watching and views of the Hudson River.
7. For the classy: Sky Terrace at The Hudson Hotel

The good news is that you’ll be surprised to know that sunbathing 15 floors up on the sundeck at this Midtown hotel isn’t just for guests.
The great news is that they don’t even charge admission. It’s quiet with plenty of hidden nooks, hammocks and, of course, a bar for you to sip your way through mojitos all day long.
8. For the family-friendly: Battery Park

This downtown park comes equipped with a sick view of our favorite New York City gal, Lady Liberty.
If it gets too hot, fear not, as this ready-for-summer park comes with in-ground fountains for you to cool off and play in. And if you start feeling hungry, there are plenty of places to pick up snacks and drinks, too.
9. For members-only: The Soho House

All is good and well if you’re a member-- or even if your best friend is one.
Chill by the pool with a cocktail, soak up the sun, city sights, and the movers and shakers surrounding you. Lucky!
10. For the quick fix: tanning salon (various NYC locations)

If you're really struggling to get a tan this summer or simply don't have the time to lay out, New York City has a million tanning salons that offer a quick fix with a good spray tan.
(Our personal favorite is Portofino Sun in Soho. They have them all around the city, they're very clean, not too expensive, and you leave with a great-looking tan.)
