Stewart Mader is leading a campaign entitled "Subway NY, NJ," which, according to NJ.com, is working to get Jersey City and Hoboken added to the maps of the New York City subway system.

"Subway NY, NJ" wants Jersey City and Hoboken's five PATH stations included on the NYC subway map.

Mader is a 34-year-old Hoboken resident who commutes to his digital media job in lower Manhattan by traveling first on the PATH train, and then getting off and swiping his MetroCard again to ride the subway.

According to NJ.com, Mader is one of about 40,000 commuters who use both the subway and the PATH train in their commute.

Because while the PATH train, like the subway, accepts the MetroCard as payment, the PATH train is not currently considered a part of the subway system.

The two are run by different agencies and are not directly linked, and as a result do not allow free transfers from the PATH train to the subway nor vice versa. Nor do the subway and the PATH train share tracks.

The MTA's spokesperson Kevin Ortiz, however, does not share Mader's viewpoint, as he stated including the PATH train on the subway's maps would "confuse our customers."

Mader believes not having the PATH train on the subway map is a "missed opportunity to illustrate just how conveniently the two sides of the Hudson are linked by rail transit."
