Coming 2021: Take a Stunning Look at the World Trade Center's Final Skyscraper

By 2021, a new skyscraper will finally complete the World Trade Center complex. And it's projected to open right on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

Designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, it's arranged to stand 80 stories and 1,340 feet tall-- which will render it Manhattan's third-tallest building (behind One World Trade and the new 432 Park Avenue luxury condo).

The new skyscraper will both pay respect to the delicate history where 3,000 people died, and exalt the adventurous vision of Ingels, a Danish architectural prodigy.

"We have tried to incorporate that duality," Ingels told Wired. "On one hand it's about being respectful and about completing the frame around the memorial, and on the other hand it's about revitalizing downtown Manhattan and making it a lively place to live in and work."

To accomplish his goal of duality, Ingel's building is designed to provoke different emotions from different perspectives.

According to Wired, from the World Trade Center's Memorial Plaza, the new building will appear "slender and serious." But to gaze up at the new skyscraper from Tribeca, it will appear more "madcap" and jazz-inspired.

The building is expected to become headquarters to Rupert Murdoch's media companies, and 21st Century Fox. And it's completely gorgeous.
