Remember that time we got drunk and forgot what we did? Well, despite the fact that the end of the night was a bit hazy, it was obviously awesome.
We really hope that when we die, we get to take a tour of our drunken moments, and find out what really happened.
If this occurs, we're fairly certain you'll discover that most of our best Saturday nights occurred in the East Village.
Why is the East Village the best place in New York City to meet up with pals for drinks? The answer is simple.
People are chill, and also having the time of their lives. Bars don’t have absurd dress codes, and people are willing to share their party favors.
You can drink while doing your favorite things in the entire world, like downing beers while playing games at Barcade or listening to poetry at KGB Bar.
And after all of that, you can go munch on a dollar slice (or four).
Really, forget about the West Village; read on to discover the 6 reasons why the East Village is really the best place in NYC to party.
1. Awesome bars
With bars like Penny Farthing, Niagra, Pour House, Ace Bar, The 13th Step, Kingston Hall and McSorley’s, the East Village is hands down home to the most fun bars in Manhattan. This is proven to New Yorkers, time and time again, every weekend.
Where else in NYC can you get two delicious beers, a sandwich, and French fries for $20? Well, nowhere, besides McSorley’s.

Where else in NYC can you exchange one dollar for a beer? Well, nowhere besides The 13th Step.
Where else can you make out with four people in one night, and not even feel bad about it besides Niagra?
Well, I’m sure you can do that in many other places, but at least if it’s Saturday night and you’re at Niagra, you definitely won’t be the only one. So it’ll probably be easier to find someone to make out with.
2. Party people
Remember those bars we talked about earlier? Well, the same people are on a rotating shift at those bars, and they’re the most awesome people.
One weekend, my friends and I made friends with a few boys at Penny Farthing on Friday night. On Saturday night, we ran into the same group of boys at The 13th Step. Is this an absurd, chaotic coincidence that at once reveals the futility of our existence and the irony of the universe?
I think not.
I think it was no mistake. I think all the most fun people go to all the most fun bars, and when you’re one of those people, you’re likely to run into others.
3. Drunk eats
All the best drunk eats are located in the East Village, which is very convenient for when you have imbibed alcoholic beverages and you need to shove some food in your face.
Veselka is a 24/7 establishment with delicious, affordable Ukrainian food and it’s located in... you guessed it. The East Village!

So are Criff Dogs, Artichoke, Decibel, Tacos Morelos, and Rai Rai Ken. The best part about all these places is that they’re both delicious and affordable, right?
No, the best part about these places is that when you go to them at 1 a.m. on a Saturday, you will definitely not be the only tipsy person. You’ll be dining in a restaurant full of party people.
,4. Lots of things to do involving alcohol
The best things about the East Village are its thriving rock-and-roll, independent book and record stores, thrift stores, and its niche stores.
For example, there’s an entire store full of just belts, just hats, and even lampshades. And there are plenty of eclectic activities, so you can go do whatever you’re into, have a blast, and then party, obviously.
You can go to the East Village Comedy Club, laugh your ass off at a comedy show, while fulfilling your two-drink minimum obligation, of course.

You can go see an improv show at St. Mark's Theater, where there is no two-drink minimum, but of course you can drink two drinks anyway (or four?).
You can go watch slam poetry at the Nuyorican Poets Café while sipping on a Brooklyn Lager.
All of these activities involve you doing what you love, and getting buzzed in the process. Who could hate that?
5. Brunch
Everyone knows the East Village is the best place to brunch. If it weren’t, why would my friends keep planning brunches here?
With amazing, reasonably priced brunch spots like Mercadito, Prune, and The Smith, you can round up your friends, munch on pancakes and bacon, and throw Bloody Marys down your throat until the world is sparkly and lighter.
And afterwards, you’re released into the gorgeous, historic, lively East Village. During the daytime.
The possibilities here are limitless.
6. Day drinking
We already discussed brunch. But what about after brunch, when you’re released into the East Village feeling like a champ?
The East Village is the best place in America to be crocked during the day. What can you do?
You can go chase your friends around in Tompkins Square Park. You can all stand in a circle and rap at Astor Place and not even attract so much as a stare. You can shop for vintage accessories at Archangel Antiques or vintage stamps at Casey's Rubber Stamps.

And if you’re not too drunk, you can go to St. Mark's and watch one of your friends get something pierced.
You can keep your buzz going and go sing karaoke at Planet Rose, or chug beers while eating hotdogs at Criff Dogs. You can run all over the place, set the day on fire, and create the best memories of your life.
Except, well, you might not remember them. So the best you can do is hope you had fun.
