In this vintage 1928 short film below, New York City definitely looked very different than how it does today... but some other things never really changed.

Like the almost-always terrifying experience of riding in a random cab-- which still exists to this very day. (We're talking to you, crazy yellow cabbies... and yes, you too, Uber.)

As the video shows, the reckless street traffic doesn't end there. At any moment, NYC buses also look like they're about to run over a New Yorker or two.

And yes, as you can probably guess, New York City pedestrians didn't abide by traffic laws  either back then.

So now watch and witness what it was like to get around NYC almost 90 years ago.

(By the way, can you name the famous New York Yankee player who plays the role of a passenger in that crazy cabbie scene?)
