It's Better On Top: 5 Reasons Why New Yorkers Just Can’t Get Enough of Rooftop Bars

Well New Yorkers, you survived Snowmageddon, suffered through months of frozen snot, and sacrificed many a glove to your local barroom floor.

Congratulations! You beat winter!

And what’s the best way to celebrate that victory? Our friends at Headlines & Heroes recommend hauling ass to one of New York City’s awesome rooftop bars.

Keep reading to find out 5 reasons why New Yorkers just can't get enough of rooftop bars this summer.

1. It feels like you’re on an instant vacation

Warm weather practically demands outdoor drinking.

However, if your schedule doesn’t allow you the time to sit with your toes in the water, ass in the sand, and margarita in hand at the Four Seasons Bora Bora, you’ll have to find a closer outdoor venue where you can get your fix of outdoor sipping.

Lucky for you, New York isn’t short on rooftop venues where you can get loopy.

Case in point, Loopy Doopy at the top of the Conrad Hotel, complete with views of Lady Liberty.

Bora, Bora who?

2. It’s an excuse to get high

No, we’re not talking about the kind of high Snoop Lion felt at his NBA All-Star Weekend concert (or any other event for that matter).

We’re talking about the kind of high that puts you well above sea level with killer rooftop views.

Check out the rooftop lounge at Bar 54, New York’s highest rooftop bar that— you guessed it— sits 54 stories up, atop the Hyatt Times Square.

Because there’s nothing that enhances the flavor of your Pimm’s Cup like a river-to-river view.

3. You have views for days

Okay so the rooftop at 230 Fifth might not have the view you had from your adventure in the Outer Space Balloon Capsule, but you it can certainly give you your fill of skyscraper porn.

As you sip your cocktails, you can also feast your eyes on some of New York’s most famous landmarks, like the iconic Empire State Building and the Art Deco masterpiece that is the Chrysler Building.

Can’t see those from space now, can you?

4. You may find a pool

You don’t have to live under a rock to know that pools in New York come few and far between, so you might want to keep these two spots under wraps.

La Piscine at the Hotel Americano and the Beach at the Dream Hotel have both pools and full bars, and really, what more do you need in life? (P.S., stay tuned for details on spoiled nyc's first Manhattan event at Hotel Americano's rooftop pool on Friday, July 3rd.)

Though it might be against the rules to bring your Remote Control Snack Pool Float, perhaps if you throw on your Isaora Swim Trunks and flex those abs, you might be able to convince one of the models out there to bring you a drink.

5. It makes you less likely to murder someone

Going out in Times Square can make us all feel rather murderous at times.

Between accidentally photo bombing tourists, dodging the Cookie Monster, and almost getting run over by unpredictable Citi Bikers, you’ll probably find any excuse not to head up to the crowded area.

But, with rooftops like the Supernova Bar and Beer Authority, we reckon that you’ll actually find the silver lining in Times Square. So sit back, enjoy your gin & tonic, and enjoy the spectacular views without the Elmo asking you to take a selfie.

Life. Is. Good.
