Wine and dine? More like wine and... more wine!

Wineries are great for a number of reasons, namely that they make delicious wines and you can have fun at tastings and other gatherings at these locations.

Wineries make for a great place to just hang out and enjoy the nice weather with good food, drinks, and company.

A lot of people automatically think Napa Valley when it comes to wine, but you probably didn't know that many parts of New York State-- from the far reaches of the Finger Lakes Upstate to the Hudson Valley and even Long Island-- are extremely famous for their wines as well.

Here are 6 amazing wineries in New York (including one right here in NYC) to visit for a quick weekend summer getaway... like ASAP.

1. Red Hook Winery (175-204 Van Dyke Street - Brooklyn)

Who would've thought that there could be a winery located right here in NYC?

Red Hook Winery's mission is to gather what New York tastes like through wine.

While the winery is based in Brooklyn, its grapes come from fifteen different vineyards across New York State, with twenty-six wines per vintage being based in Brooklyn. It's an otherwise unique find amidst the glamorous attractions of the big city.

You've had red, white, and pink wines for sure, but have you had orange wine?

Orange wine is perhaps the Red Hook Winery's best kept secret. Made from skin fermentation of the grapes, these would-be whites are transformed into something entirely new, something fresh and fantastic, using this technique. A tasting is $5 for three wines, so definitely ask for orange when you go.

2. Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery (114 Little York Road - Warwick, NY)

Warwick in Orange County is a great little town as it is, with plenty of apple orchards to choose from during you pick season and lots of picturesque mountains, but the Warwick Valley Winery is something special.

While it is home to a number of fantastic wines, it's not your usual vineyard, as it also acts as a distillery.

Doc's Draft Hard Apple Cider is made here, as are a number of distilled fruit liquors. A wine tasting is $5 for four wines, the seasonal Doc's Draft cider, and a choice of dessert liquors plus a glass to take home. Adorable.

The property itself is stunning and all around a great place to just kick it. A full bar and kitchen means ordering drinks and food and sitting out on the lawn or patio to enjoy a beautiful day.

Saturdays and Sundays, live music plays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. outdoors. The best you can do is grab your favorite wine from the tasting (go with their Riesling if you love white-- it's not too dry or too sweet) and hang out outside with your loved ones.

3. King Ferry Winery (658 Lake Road - King Ferry)

The Finger Lakes found in the northwest of Upstate New York are famed for their wines, making it a must-visit for wine connoisseurs. The King Ferry Winery near Lake Cayuga, north of Ithaca, is home to Treleaven Wines.

Chardonnays and Rieslings are key here, as is their New York State Apple Wine. A unique flavor made of white grapes and fermented golden delicious and Macintosh apples, the Apple Wine will seriously give hard cider a run for its money.

Only problem is King Ferry and the Finger Lake region is quite a ways away from NYC.

Sure, it'll make for a great road trip, but if you can't hustle out there, stop by the Union Square Greenmarket and pay Treleaven Wines a visit. Sampling any of the wines is free, so get to know your favorites, and stock up on your picks.

4. Adair Vineyards (52 Alhusen Road - New Paltz)

Fun fact: the Hudson Valley, specifically between Orange and Ulster Counties, are famous for their vineyards. So famous that there is actually a wine trail that leads wine aficionados through the Shawangunk region to the best wineries.

On this trail, Adair Vineyards in New Paltz is one of the first stops.

Located on Thaddeus Hait Farm, the wines are fermented in a steel tank with cooling jackets in order to give each wine a distinct fruity taste. Infused with flavors like black currant and peach, the wines at Adair Vineyards give a little taste of the best of the region's offerings.

5. Brotherhood Winery (100 Brotherhood Plaza Drive - Washingtonville)

Did you know that Brotherhood Winery is the oldest winery in America?

A place that's truly rooted in and proud of its history, Brotherhood Winery officially began fermenting grapes in 1839 after Frenchman Jean Jaques purchased and expanded land so he could grow enough grapes to get Brotherhood started.

1839 was the year that Jaques' underground cellars opened and the winery's first vintage was fermented. Those same underground cellars are still very much young, alive, and in use today.

Brotherhood Winery boasts a large collection of speciality wines, including premium reds and whites from New York State grapes as well as some sparkling wines to keep things airy and fabulous.

It is truly an embodiment of Hudson Valley wine culture.

6. Bedell Cellars (36225 State Route 25 - Cutchogue)

Quality is anything but forgotten at Bedell Cellars out on Long Island's North Fork. The wines are carefully crafted to ensure high standards and elegance in each of Bedell Cellars' vintages.

Priding itself on sustainable farming and a state of the art all-natural fermenting process, Bedell Cellars' wines are fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and cultured with local, sustainable Chardonnay juices plus fruits, flowers, and beach stones to give their wines an exceptional flavor.
