When it comes to food festivals, it's equally about both the food and the atmosphere, the happy buzz that comes with browsing the vendors' offerings, and eyeing the tastiest temptations that New York City has to offer.

This spring and summer, food festivals celebrating eating and drinking alongside NYC's best chefs and restaurants will be back in bloom, from all the way up in the Bronx to all the way down in Lower Manhattan and stretching into the reaches of Brooklyn and Queens.

These festivals bring to light many talented chefs and the unique food they produce as a part of their craft, as well as bringing New Yorkers together for the love for food and good vibes.

Check out these 9 amazing food festivals coming to NYC over the several months, and start marking down those calendars!

1. Smorgasburg

Brooklyn's premier food flea market made its sunny debut the weekend of April 4th and 5th, with a lineup of fan favorites returning as well as 20 new vendors.

Open Saturdays in Williamsburg and Sundays in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Smorgasburg can't be beat, especially given how much it has to offer.

When there are goodies like fresh donuts from Dough and ooey, gooey grilled cheeses from Milk Truck on the lineup, you definitely won't want to miss out on this.

2. Madison Square Eats

This biannual pop-up is a nice surprise for every foodie. Open this spring from May 1st to May 28th, Madison Square Eats has a fresh line-up and stunning views of the Flatiron Building that will melt your heart and make your belly go wild.

Be sure to go by for the newbies on the block, Cheesesteaks by Truffleist, the purveyors of truffle goodness in NYC, and gelato for dessert.

And don't worry if you miss out this May-- Madison Square Eats will be back again for its fall tour in early September!

3. Taste of Times Square 

We wouldn't encourage you to go to Times Square for any reason unless it involved delicious food and a good time! Ignore all those money hungry Elmo impersonators and head on down to 46th Street between 9th and Broadway for a Taste of Times Square. 

But make sure you get your taste tickets-- they're only $1 each, and each dish costs between $1 and $6, so you should be able to front the cash, no?

Set for June 1st, Taste of Times Square's participating restaurants are still a mystery. But with last year's array of cultural cuisines from across the city setting a great precedent, you can only expect good things to come.

4. Prospect Park Food Truck Rally

We'll bet you can rally behind this one.

Judging that you live in NYC, you've probably got an opinion on food trucks and even have a food truck that you'd follow to the ends of the Earth.

At the Prospect Park Food Truck Rally located in Grand Army Plaza, you can (finally!) expect to find some of your favorite food trucks... all in the same place.

It takes place every third Sunday throughout the spring and summer, so mark your calendars down now.

Favorites on this year's line-up include DUB Pies for sweet and savory pies, Coolhaus for perfect cookie ice cream sandwiches, and the Asian-Mexican fusion standout Kimchi Taco.

Keep yourself posted though-- you never know who might show up!

5. Brooklyn Uncorked (26 Bridge Street - Brooklyn)

Does your ideal evening consist of wine and food? (Who's doesn't, right?)

Don't forget to mark May 28th on your calendar from 6:00-9:00 free for the 9th Annual Brooklyn Uncorked food and wine festival!

Celebrating the best culinary talents of Brooklyn and Manhattan plus amazing wine from the area, Brooklyn Uncorked promises to be one hell of a time. General admission tickets are a steep $70, but there will be lots of food and wine up for grabs so it's all good.

Splurge a little and take home a bottle of wine (or two) from any of Brooklyn Uncorked's many talented vendors and enjoy a few bites that will perfectly compliment your wine choices-- like that delightful chocolate from the Chocolate Room.

6. Broadway Bites

This Greeley Square Park foodie paradise will be back starting on June 1st through July 26th, so clear your schedule and make room in your summer diet!

The Broadway Bites spring lineup is still a mystery, but we sure hope that Wafels and Dinges will make an appearance this time around. If they do, grab a liege waffle and slather that bad boy up in fudge and whipped cream, will ya?

Broadway Bites also features a fall event from early October to November, so if you're loving it, make sure to come by again in the fall.

7. Big Apple BBQ Block Party

Is it just us or is Madison Square Park increasingly becoming a major foodie hangout spot?

After Madison Square Eats finishes up on May 28th, the park will be at it again on the weekend of June 13th for the Big Apple BBQ Block Party.

Here, you can dine with the finest BBQ pitmasters from across the country, from right here at home in Red Hook all the way to Nashville and St. Louis (and every place in between)!

8. Taste of TriBeCa

What's not to love about eating up for a good cause? Taste of TriBeCa's general admission tickets are $40 for the early bird special ($50 at the door), but the proceeds go to funding arts and enrichment programs at TriBeCa's very own P.S. 234 and 150.

This event will take place on May 16th from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., so it's definitely the ideal lunch plan to have in this wonderful spring weather.

The general admission pass comes with 6 taste tickets to use at any of the many restaurants in the Lower Manhattan area that will come out for the event... nice!

9. Ferragosto

This Italian food festival up in the Bronx on Arthur Avenue's Little Italy comes a little later (September 13th this year) than the others on this list, but it's still technically early enough to be summer (we all know it'll probably still be like 80 degrees in this crazy town).

Anyway, we dare you not to try one of everything at Ferragosto. Italian favorites like fresh mozzarella and other cheeses and meats will be beckoning your name, as well as the savory smell of sausage and peppers that'll permeate through the air.

Make sure you save room for dessert with a big ol' bag of zeppoles (if you don't know, they're pillowy balls of fried pizza dough coated in powdered sugar). It's the best way to finish any day, trust us on that one.
