Dudes, Douches & Bros, Oh My! 10 Types of Guys You'll End Up Meeting at a Bar

New York City has the best bar scene of any city and I refuse to believe otherwise.

Being a girl in the city and visiting the plethora of amazing bars that New York has to offer, you will meet a lot of interesting guys.

Some of these fellas you wish will never come back into your life ever again, and others you will long to see one more time.

So here are 10 types of guys that every girl will end up meeting at a bar-- that's the good, bad, ugly, and even the ugliest.

1. The clinger

blackkidhadmelike...

When guys say things like: “girls are always so clingy” I often want to point out that guys aren’t so innocent when it comes to being clingy either. It’s kind of lame that only girls get the bad rep of being clingy.

Anyways, I have met some guys at a bar and thought they were normal at first. Gave them my number, then within my first couple of steps outside of the bar, my phone goes off: “Where’d you go?”

I’m obviously on my way to the next place, so I don’t need to text him until I get there.

But of course, by the time I get there, I have about 6 more texts: “We were having such a great conversation” “I really like you” “can we hang out tonight” “where are you” “fine I’ll just go home” “good talk.”

Pump the brakes, buddy.

2. The guy who’s too cool

This is the hottie that you see as soon as you walk into the bar. You decide that if it’s the last thing you do, you WILL get his attention by the end of the night.

Attempt #1: you walk past him to go to the bathroom several times grazing your shoulder against his, trying to get him to notice you. The guy will just end up thinking that you’re having some major bowel issues or lady problems. Not cute.

Attempt #2: the ol’ “excuse me, can I sneak in to get a drink here” move. Unfortunately, this guy is too cool for that move and will just politely get out of the way and continue his conversation with all of his friends (which annoyingly makes him look cuter than ever).

No matter what you do, he’s just not interested and you start feeling like the clinger yourself. At this point, you should shut it down before you inevitably destroy what is left of your ego.

3. The aggressive guy

This guy strikes with the most crazy and outlandish pick-up attempts that you never knew existed.

This guy is also into the whole grinding up on you thing, even if no one else is dancing and a slow Eric Clapton song is playing.

Then, the words that come out of his mouth right off the bat are always concerning. “You’re hot, I’m trying to take you back to my place!” or “Damn, that ass is fineee!”

Do you expect us to respond with: “Oh hi, nice to meet you too! Are we going to my place or yours? Cab’s on me!”

Nope. Get outta here!

4. The drunk guy

I always feel for this guy because I have 100% been the drunk girl before.

Anyway, this guy will come up to you and say something that could possibly be the best pickup line you’ve ever heard.

Except you can’t make out a single word that he’s saying and it sounds like one long word slurred together. “Hiwhasyornamminisjeffanilikedrinkinalot”… Yeah?… Cool… me too?

There’s a max of about 5 minutes that I will give this guy to get his act together.

After 5 minutes of gibberish being thrown at me, I will straight up just walk away from that convo.

5. The guy way too old for this bar

I see this guy at every single bar. And although I know and hope that I will still be going out for drinks WITH FRIENDS when I get older, I will chose the bars that I go to more wisely.

When you’re in a bar, it’s a real buzz kill to see a dude that could definitely be your dad, sitting at the bar, watching you and your friends drink. Then, it gets creepier when you go to the bar to buy a drink and he asks you to take a shot with him.

But I don’t feel bad taking a shot from this guy, he can afford it.

6. The friend of a friend

This guy can cause some very awkward situations. Especially if your friend tells you: “I think you would really like this guy. He’s totally your type.”

And you KNOW your friend probably said the same thing to this guy about you. Is this a set up?

Once you meet him, he always turns out to be some major douche.

Does your friend really think of you in that way? Is my type really the douchiest guy in the bar? Thanks a lot...

7. The cute bartender

This is a tricky one. He comes up to get your drink order with that dazzling smile that makes you weak in the knees. Then, he hands you your drink along with an adorably witty joke. What a cutie.

The rest of the night you will sit at the bar hoping that he will stand close to you and hear all of the enthralling conversations that you have.

And just about the time that you decide that you’re going to give him your number, you see him handing a beer over to a different girl with that same adorable smile.

Oh, right… that’s his job.

8. The guy with a girlfriend

This guy is always amazing. You will meet him because he is trying to be a good wingman for his single friend.

While your friend is talking to his friend, you both have an amazing conversation where you realize that you have everything in common and you’re obviously meant to be.

You start planning the wedding in your head and turn your flirting game way up. He obviously picks up on this intensity and sprinkles in a fact about his girlfriend into your conversation.

Nooooo! This always happens... I swear, every time!

9. The guy you talk to solely to make your ex jealous

9

Isn’t it just the worst when you go out for a girls night on the town and your ex shows up at the bar? Naturally in this situation, the go-to move is to start flirting with the next guy that you see.

This guy is normally caught off-guard by your boldness when you walk straight up to him. “Hey, what’s up? I’m Amber.”

[anad2]

He will think that he is straight up killin' it, since you laugh obnoxiously at everything he says and keep touching his arm. “You are SO funny!!”

Your ex will inevitably leave the bar and then you’re stuck with this guy that thinks he’s gettin' it in tonight.

This was fun while it lasted, but the excitement is now gone. Time to break his heart and head home.
