There are rooftop bars, and then there's news of this: Rockefeller Center's SixtyFive (named for the floor it sits on) just opened its outdoor terrace for food, cocktails, and wine.
It sits just one story below their famed observation deck-- but this floor charges no cover (keep that one in your back pocket the next time you’ve got out-of-town guests visiting).
Small delicious plates like fish tacos, beef wagyu sliders, and a Parmesan pizza will set you back about $20 each (but no worries, there’s also sushi and desserts).
And their cocktails are nearly all north of that in price, but stick to the menu's basics: the Piquant Pear was bright and spicy, although the mojito bore little (if any at all) resemblance to its usual self (and no, not in a good way).
But this rooftop terrace is all about the view, and in that respect, the Terrace at SixtyFive sits at the top of the figurative mountain that is NYC.
Bottom line: this new spot is not much-- if any at all-- more expensive than the rest of Midtown Manhattan, but it's oh-so-worth it just to sit atop this entire city with a stiff drink in your hand.
Especially on a beautiful spring day.
