Recently, Aymann Ismail climbed the Williamsburg Bridge (a pretty bad-ass undertaking) with an experienced guide and wrote about his experience in intricate detail.

The Bridge's towers stand at 335 feet high and take approximately 15 minutes to climb. According to Ismail:

It requires lots of crawling and squeezing into tight spaces between the cross-sectional beams that create the bridge’s spine.

Ismail describes the first half of the climb being all about scaling the 45-degree beams by crawling across them or climbing at steep angles.

He was afraid of not only being caught and getting arrested (yes, that was a possibility), but also of falling.

In order to avoid falling, he wore lightweight batting gloves and layer hoodies, knowing those articles of clothing were less likely to get caught on a beam than a jacket.

At the top of the roof, Ismali sat with his guide enjoying what he calls their “personal playground.” The guide turned to him and said,

Even if we get caught, the cops can’t take the view away.

That's for sure...
