The New York City public transportation experience is never dull.

Subway stations are filled with musicians from every genre and artists of all forms.

Chad Gayle, a New York based author, photographer and filmmaker has created a video showing common sights and sounds of a New York commuter.

In his video below, we see people looking both dreadfully miserable and glowing with happiness as well as readers, dancers, and artists. He shows people engaging with one another, as well as those who keep to themselves or ignore their surroundings as their head is buried in their smartphone.

The soundtrack of the piece includes pop, folk, and classical music as well as jazz standards and original rock compositions that were actually played in New York City’s subway stations. It shows people in eccentric costumes that would probably make one say, “only in New York.”
