Brooklyn-based Marielle Anzelone is an urban botanist who is seeking to preserve the floristic integrity of New York City.
Her latest project is called PopUP Forest and looks to draw attention to the 12% of NYC that is made of greenland (the largest percentage of any large city in the nation). Can you imagine walking through Times Square, perhaps the most un-natural place on the planet, completely surrounded by towering trees and blooming wildflowers?
Well, that's the goal of this Kickstarter campaign, which has a goal of $25,000. As of this publication, there has been approximately $9.3 K funded with a little under a month left to go.
