7. International Waffle Day (March 25)

We can thank the Swedes for the wonderful tradition of eating waffles on March 25!

International Waffle Day traces its roots back to Sweden (where it first started as a result of confusion), in the observance of the Christian celebration of Annunciation, Our Lady’s Day.

In Swedish, “Annunciation Day” is called “VÃ¥r fur dagen” (Day of Our Lady), which is extremely similar to VÃ¥ffeldagen (the word for waffle)... and so began the tradition of eating waffles to celebrate the holiday-- and of course the beginning of spring. Join in on the celebration right here in NYC by eating some tasty Belgian waffles from places like Petite Abeille or B. Cafe.

8. Wine Riot (March 27-28)

Wine Riot is putting a whole new spin on wine tasting, by adding interactive booths with crash courses featuring tips and facts about wine to their NYC event.

Besides trying to conquer tasting as many of the 250 wines across the world as possible, you can also enjoy a DJ, photo booth, temporary tattoos, and food pairings.

Opening night begins on Friday, March 27, and two additional events will occur on Saturday, March 28. Wine enthusiasts can get their tickets here.
