The only reason to love winter is because it means we can wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
Throughout the course of the year, we let ourselves fall into bad habits, we get lazy, and the next thing you know, we're trying to justify $25 cab rides while eating Shake Shake.
Let's get things straight and say this bluntly. It needs to come to an end. Here are 21 basic things New Yorkers need to stop doing... like right now.

1. Stop buying $5 coffees

Yes it’s creamy and dreamy, we get it. For New Yorkers scooping up a La Colombe coffee everyday before work, that's $1200 a year on coffee. Does the coffee also turn into a studio apartment?

2. Stop taking cabs all the time
You will be truly surprised by every cent you save. Not only does the subway get you there in half the time, you're also guaranteed to people-watch some interesting types-- all for a cheerful $2.50.
3. Stop ordering Seamless all the time

Seamless: turning casual habits of ordering food online into full-blown addictions, since 1999.
If you have the Seamless app on your phone, it’s time to hit that delete button. It’s pricey and those orders add up. So will your waistline.
4. Stop sleeping with your SoulCycle instructor
No mixing fitness with pleasure, New Yorkers. Keep it strictly-fitness, to avoid all awkwardness and having to move clubs.
5. Stop thinking the Knicks still got a shot
Sorry, but it’s not happening. At least not this year.
6. Stop partying during the week

Maybe the club really is going up on a Tuesday, but does that mean you should be? I think not. 2015 is the year to change your game, so start changing it by sticking to partying on the weekends.
7. Stop buying Cookie Butter from Trader Joe's
Steer clear of aisle 6, aka the Cookie Butter Aisle, to avoid all temptation. Stay strong, NYC.
8. Stop ending up at 1 Oak...

We all have that moment the morning after, where we realize what happened the night before. We partied at 1 Oak, until the lights came on-- and then crawled over to the notoriously-delicious spot next door...
9. And hence, stop eating pizza at 4 a.m.
As if ending up at 1 Oak and then staying until you're asked to leave isn't bad enough... then you go plop down inside Artichoke and inhale an entire pizza. Is the regret worth it?
10. Stop Ubering so much
If it’s too hard to delete your Uber app-- and it’s genuinely a struggle for so many people-- then try using their latest “Uberpool” feature. This will, at least, give you a cheaper fare. And you might meet someone interesting (or not).
,11. Stop buying $12 juices

And invest in a juicer (which you’ll probably never use)!

12. Stop putting off Barry’s Bootcamp
Just sign up for it already! Make the change... and don’t sleep with the instructor, please.
13. Stop hating on bikers
If you can’t beat 'em, join 'em-- go get yourself a Citi Bike membership, finally.
14. Stop sleeping with every Tinder date

Just stop.
15. Stop dating Wall Street douchebags

I mean, we’ve all seen The Wolf Of Wall Street-- need I say more?
16. Stop ignoring the gym
If your gym doesn’t offer classes, there are plenty of free-standing classes to attend. It’s a great way to get motivated and you could make some new friends. Win, win!
17. Stop ignoring your kitchen
Make a first attempt at using your kitchen, even if it's just eggs on toast. You got to start somewhere, right?
18. Stop spending $16 on Chipotle lunches

Starbucks for breakfast and Chipotle for lunch isn’t the healthiest option-- and certainly, not the most cost-effective. Try investing in Tupperware and start meal-prepping.
19. Stop checking your Twitter, Facebook And Instagram accounts at dinner

If you're grabbing a bite to eat at your favorite East Village restaurant with some friends, make everyone put their phones face down in the middle of the table.
Whoever simply can't go an hour without checking their phone should pick up the check.
20. Stop taking selfies please. All the f'ing time

Duck face, the faux-surprised face, selfie stick, no selfie stick-- whatever the hell the latest trend is, how about just stop taking selfies altogether-- seriously. Please?
21. And to NYC and the rest of the world...
Even though we secretly don’t want to, it's about that time. Un-follow Kim Kardashian on social media, will ya (and every other Kardashian, while you're at it)?
