There are a lot of things New Yorkers are tired of hearing.
Things like, “The L train is out of service for the weekend,” or, “The rent is too damn high!” and of course, the classic, “There's an app for that."
As annoying as these phrases are, they’re not going away, because they continue to be true.
The L train sucks, your rent sucks even harder, and yeah, there IS an app for that.
And our friends at Headlines & Heroes are about to tell you exactly what they are.

New York is best known for two culinary masterpieces: bagels and pizza. This refers to the latter.
Meet Pizza Compass, the app that finds the closest pizza places to your location, then uses a proprietary pizza-to-mouth indicator to calculate the exact distance between you and your next slice.
You can even share your new findings with your friends-- after your pizza thirst has been quenched, of course.
2. Beats Music

A stroll down city streets sans music is noisy. Really f*cking noisy.
Drown out the honking horns and jackhammers with some tunes, courtesy of the Beats Music app. All you have to do is tell Beats Music where you are, what you’re feeling, and who you’re with. From there, it uses algorithms to serve up the soundtrack that best complements your situation. You can also stream your own playlists and share music with followers.
Besides setting the perfect mood, Beats can even drown out the calls of all those Amnesty International solicitors in the park. Ahh, music to our ears.

Staying out all night because you went to the most exclusive party on the island is cool. Staying out all night because you got locked out of your apartment at 3 a.m. is not so cool.
Which is why the Hotel Tonight app may just become your new best friend. All you need are your thumbs and your iPhone, and you’re just a few taps away from finding fabulous last-minute deals on unsold hotel rooms.
It beats the hell out of sleeping on that skull and crossbones welcome mat your roommate bought.
4. Clear

In this city it’s all about being on the move like your lease is up (metaphorically speaking of course).
But somewhere between brunch uptown and sunning on the High Line downtown, you may have forgotten to pick up your pooch from the groomers (dammit, not again). Which is why the Clear app is the ultimate tool for making sure your sh*t gets done.
With its beautiful interface and gestural interactions, this app is the “to do” list of the future, elegantly incorporating the gestures you’re already accustomed to using with Apple’s mobile operating system. With Clear, you’ll never forget Fido again.
5. Rise

We’re still not sure what Kesha meant when she said, “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy,” but we’re pretty sure it’s a good thing…right?
Another surefire way to way up right is with the Rise Alarm Clock app. The screen changes color to reflect the morning, night or dawn-colored sky, and in the middle of the screen there are large, elegant numbers easy enough to see with one eye open, plus a countdown until it’s time to rise and shine. Good morning indeed.
6. FlyCleaners

It happens to everyone. It’s raining, you’re late for work, you’re standing a little too close to the corner trying to cross the street when, BAM! Instant soakage. Thanks for nothing, yellow cab.
If the puddle shower has your duds a little dud-sy, you need the FlyCleaners app. This full-service laundry app does your laundry and dry cleaning on demand, picking up and delivering your clothes any time between 6 a.m. and midnight, any day of the week. And it could not be simpler. Piece of cake.
7. Invisibility

Sure, a slight run-in with the law can be badass. But a run-in with that clingy one night stand from a while back, that’s just bad ass and bad luck, to boot.
You need the Cloak app—the ultimate insurance to make sure you don’t run into any unwanted blasts from the pasts. The anti-social media app uses public location data to alert you when people you want to avoid are in the area.
Just sync the app to your social media accounts like Foursquare, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and Cloak will conjure up a list of your “friends” who have recently checked in nearby and send you notifications as to their whereabouts, based on their distance.
Just set an alert for the people you don’t want to see and you’ll be notified when they get within a ½ mile radius of you, letting you know its time to reroute. Mischief managed.
8. Blade

We realize February may be a bit early to start planning for your summer Hamptons excursions, but you might want to start saving for this one.
The Blade app allows you to book yourself a seat on a helicopter headed straight to the Hamptons in just three taps.
Considering your aversion to fighting for seats on the Jitney or the train with the rest of the “normies” it might be worth a few hundred bucks a pop. Headed to Honolulu instead? Blade can also whisk you to the airport. Suck it, Uber.
