15 Fantastic Concerts You Absolutely Need to Go to This October in NYC

If there is one thing we can truly always count on around here, it's that the NYC music scene will never disappoint.

Of course we've got an endless slew of our favorite, big name performers, like Ed Sheeran, Kid Cudi, or T-Pain, which will all be amazing, no doubt.

Though we definitely recommend you switch it up and check out some of the other not-so-well-known acts as well, they won't be that way for long.

Here's a list of suggestions, which might I add, only scratches the surface. Be sure to get on the shows coming up at the start of October, those tickets are selling fast!

The National recently released their new album, Sleep Well Beast, this past September. Their new work has been reviewed as "jolting" with new content that will develop the band's sound in a new light.

For The New York Times, writer Jon Pareles reacts to the album as follows; "The National’s new songs defy the idea that maturity means settling down and discovering clear-cut choices. Instead, the questions are knottier, the answers harder to resolve".

Sounds like something we don't want to miss, grab your tickets!

5. The Kooks @ Terminal 5 (October 6th) & Brooklyn Steel, Brooklyn (October 7th)

I can say from experience that a Niall Connolly performance is one you will not want to miss. Both an incredible singer/musician, as well as a genuine, comedic presence. You will be happy you made his show, which will simultaneously feel somehow like the two of you are just hanging out and have been friends for years.

And it gets even better, because joining him will be the incredible indie/alternative rock band, August Wells (shown in the photo above).

Check it out!

7. Kesha and Black Lips @ Hammerstein Ballroom (October 9th) & Irving Plaza (October 10th)

Kesha has recently emerged into the spotlight after a long break in her career. As many of you have probably heard, the artist was involved in a long, confusing, infuriating lawsuit with her manager. Results of which were ultimately, rather ambiguous, and the entire conflict led to a major pause in her ability to produce music. The experience was reportedly very emotionally tolling and damaging to her spirit.

So of course, we're very glad to see her back in action. With the release of her new 2017 album, Rainbow, comes hits like "Hymn", "Good Old Days", and "Praying" which have, as of recently, taken over the radio. And now she's coming to NYC with back to back performances!
