Madison Square Park, known for its trippy art installations, continues to deliver. This Fall, the Oval Lawn will host Erwin Redl's new light-based installation.

The exhibit, titled Whiteout, will feature hundreds of luminescent spheres, each enclosing an individual white LED light.

The orbs will be suspended from a square grid of steel poles and cabling. Situated two feet above the ground, will gently sway in the breeze.

Redl, an Austrian-born artist specializing in LED, is programming the orbs to animate in spacey visual patterns and create waves of light. The installation opens November 16th.

But there's plenty of time to enjoy this art– the spheres will illuminate each evening until April 15th, 2018.

It's the latest from Mad. Sq. Arts, which recently spotlighted artist Josiah McElheny's Prismatic Park glass sculpture installation on the lawn this summer.
