Queens’ biggest neighborhood food crawl is back. Taste of Sunnyside returns for its 15th year on Sunday, October 12th, taking over 46th Street between Queens Boulevard and Greenpoint Avenue with a full-blown block party, roaming bands, and more than 65 restaurants showing off why Sunnyside is one of the city’s most underrated dining destinations!

Produced by the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District, the annual festival is part food tour, and part community social as attendees arrive in droves to sample bites from local favorites like Cousin Larry’s, Vitality, Ariyoshi, Bistro Punta Sal, and dozens more spanning cuisines from Peruvian and Turkish to Nepalese and Italian.
“This year’s Taste of Sunnyside is back and even bigger than last year,” said Sunnyside Shines Executive Director Dirk McCall de Palomá. “We have well over 60 participants and might yet hit 70. Attendees will get to try a wide array of cuisines and enjoy a day of culinary celebration that engages the entire neighborhood.”
Expect live music from four roaming bands, a DJ, and plenty of family-friendly activities under the Sunnyside Arch, plus two shuttle buses for anyone who wants to ride the route instead of walking. Tickets start at $55 and include tastings from every participating restaurant—everything from Nepali momos to freshly baked pastries and pints from Queens breweries.
Local officials, from Council Member Julie Won to Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., call the event an important boost for small businesses, and many restaurant owners agree. “The Taste of Sunnyside is one of the biggest economic engines for our restaurant each year,” said Anil Amin, owner of Cardamom Indian Cuisine. “Guests always come back to try more.” For more information or to purchase tickets, which go on sale this week visit www.tasteofsunnyside.com or Humanitix.
