When you enter the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, the smell of fresh-baked apple pie instantly makes you want to indulge in some. Theatergoers can purchase mason jar pies from apron-clad ushers, but what if you can’t get to the theater?
You can now get your pie fix by baking your way through Sugar, Butter, Flour: The Waitress Pie Book, which features recipes from the hit Broadway show.
Waitress is based on the 2007 movie with Keri Russell.
The musical follows a small-town waitress who bakes pies to escape her unhappy marriage and deal with her unexpected pregnancy.
Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles wrote the tunes for the show and recently starred as Jenna Hunterson.
In the spirit of not giving away too much, we ranked seven pies from worst to best in hopes that you discover “what baking can do” for you.
You can buy Sugar, Butter, Flour: The Waitress Pie Book wherever books are sold. Waitress is playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 W 47th Street).
