The NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K Is the Perfect Alternative to Your Usual Happy Hour 🏃‍♂️🗽🏃‍♀️

Everyone knows that staying active is important to looking and feeling your best. New Yorkers tend to get kudos for walking a lot, but that’s no replacement for a heart-pumping workout every now and then.

If you’re looking for a fun way to stay in shape, boost your confidence, and meet new people while enjoying the city’s summer weather and outdoor sights, we have the perfect solution for you: the NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K!

Hosted by New York Road Runners, the NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K is a weekday social running event that serves as the perfect alternative to your usual happy hour. Seriously, who needs an after-work buzz when you can end the day with a runner’s high?

This casual 5K is perfect for runners of all levels, from beginners to seasoned marathoners looking to add some excitement (not to mention another 9+1 qualifier race) to your routine. You can go solo or round up a crew of your friends for some fitness-focused fun. Either way, it’s sure to be a blast.

The NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K is a weekday social running event that serves as the perfect alternative to your usual happy hour. Seriously, who needs an after-work buzz when you can end the day with a runner’s high?

This 3.1-mile run takes you on a scenic route through Brooklyn’s beautiful Prospect Park, which is easily accessible by public transportation. The race kicks off at West Drive near Prospect Park Lake, then takes you past Grand Army Plaza before ending on Center Drive— and along the way you’ll be running to the beat of live music acts spread throughout the 5K course. Just imagine the breeze in your face, music in your ears, and the cheering crowd as your cross the finish line and bask in the glory of your running accomplishments, even after a hard day’s work.

Once you’re done savoring the moment, you’ll want to stick around in the park for a bit longer because the fun doesn’t end at the finish line, where runners will receive one of Brooklyn’s own People’s Pops popsicles to cool off. The post-race event will also have food vendors, a DJ, and a bunch of awesome lawn games set up like corn hole and giant Jenga! Because let’s be real, board games are always better when they’re life-sized.

After you’re done mingling with your fellow runners, you can venture out of the park and head over to Threes Brewing or The Adirondack who are both offering special deals for runners - just show your bib! Seriously, after running three miles you totally deserve a drink... and maybe even a cheeseburger.
