The West Village is welcoming a lively new addition today with the debut of Yesterday’s, a nostalgia-driven bar at 157 Bleecker Street that’s already striking a chord with the neighborhood crowd. Officially opening to the public, the expansive, two-level space makes an immediate impression, drawing in visitors for everything from laid-back daytime drinks to high-energy late nights, setting the tone as a new go-to gathering spot. Inspired by the charm of old-school New York, Yesterday’s blends the familiarity of a “been-there-forever” establishment with a polished, contemporary edge. During their preview earlier this week, the venue hosted a buzzing crowd, showcasing its day to night appeal and exceptional hospitality. With two private rooms and a flexible layout, it’s equally poised to become a staple for both social and corporate gatherings.

Behind the concept is a seasoned team with deep roots in the city’s hospitality scene, including Jesse Rosen and Mike Kanevsky, the founders of the beloved Waiting On A Friend, alongside beverage experts Jarrod Fox and Jon Greenfield. Their combined experience is evident in the venue’s effortless energy and community-first feel, which was on full display from the moment doors opened.
The menu leans into elevated comfort, anchored by wood-fired pizzas served throughout the day and designed for sharing, while the bar program celebrates timeless classics. Cocktails like the Martini, Old Fashioned, Margarita, and Negroni headline the offering, joined by house signatures and a wide-ranging beverage list that spans beer, wine, champagne, and an extensive selection of non-alcoholic options, making it an easy fit for any occasion.

Designed by Yakka Studio, the 6,500-square-foot space pairs warm wood finishes and soft lighting with playful, high-energy touches. Banquette seating, curated artwork featuring cultural icons like Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Wintour, Frank Sinatra and popular film and television figures create a layered atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and fresh. An expansive central bar anchors the room, while discreet televisions allow the space to effortlessly shift into game-day mode when needed.
With its strong opening weekend turnout and clear neighborhood appeal, Yesterday’s is already aligned to become a fixture in the West Village’s social landscape, capturing the spirit of New York past while firmly planting itself in the present.
