First off, what the hell is Manhattanhenge and why do we care?
Let's get this straight for those of you who've been living under rocks.
There are two times throughout the year when the Manhattan sunset aligns to perfection with the city's east-west grid.
And we care because it's so f*cking cool. The pics prove as much.
So, if you're one of those #sunsetchasers and cannot wait for this upcoming evening, we have the details you need to catch a stellar pic and enjoy the NYC summer atmosphere.
On Wednesday, July 12th, Four Freedoms Park located on the southern edge of Roosevelt Island, will host a free Manhattanhenge viewing party until 9 p.m.

And if you think you might miss the sunset by rushing to this location, no worries.
There will be plenty of other places to catch this year's second glimpse of Manhattanhenge, like the cross streets of 14th, 34th, 42nd, and 57th.
Of course, the weather tonight's not lookin' great for any sunset views. We're dying to be wrong here, but this evening's looking like scattered thunderstorms from late afternoon until early this evening.
So get out there! Or don't! Or do it for the 'Gram!
Whatever you do, be safe. We like PiƱa Coladas and getting caught in the rain as much as the next person, but like, what do you pair with getting caught in a thunderstorm in NYC? Brown bagging Seagrams? Either way, no dice.
