An Italian Feast Loaded with Meats, Cheeses, and an Open Wine & Beer Bar Lands in Manhattan!

Ask any New Yorker who has been here long enough about their favorite sandwich shop in the five boroughs, and you’ll find one common name throughout: Alidoro, a legendary Italian specialty sandwich shop first founded in Manhattan circa 1986.

If you’ve been lucky enough to step foot into their original location, a cult, old-school gem located on Sullivan Street in SoHo, you know the deal: one super long, single line oftentimes bleeds onto the sidewalk during lunch hours, absolutely no substitutions can be made (don’t even think about asking owner and master sandwich maker Walter Momentè for mayonnaise, mustard, or basically any substitution whatsoever, besides what’s outlined on their one-page sandwich menu), and be prepared to pay cash-- no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it.

But with time comes change, and there’s plenty of that going on at Alidoro's new Midtown Manhattan location-- especially with Hungry Pop’s two-hour, open bar happy hour feast (bottomless imported Italian beers and red & white wines; need we say more?!) launching weekly starting on Friday, June 21st at 6 PM.

Hungry Pop’s two-hour meat & cheese feast loaded with an open bar (imported Italian beers and red & white wines; need we say more?!) launches at Alidoro's Midtown Manhattan location on Friday, June 21st at 6 PM

The establishment will be loaded from front to back with imported Italian meats, cheeses, and more-- so much so, that you’ll be able to break their tradition of only ordering off its menu and for the first time ever, with a lil’ help from Alidoro’s expert sandwich makers, you’ll build your very own Italian sandwiches stacked with Italian meats and cheeses like imported prosciutto, capicollo, soppressata, fresh mozzarella (and don’t forget those specialty toppings like arugula, sun dried tomatoes, and roasted red peppers, amirite?)!

*Please note: If your group is 10 people or more (birthday parties & corporate/team-building events are welcome!), please contact info@hellohungrypop.com to discuss setting up a private event.*

But that’s not all; read on for the full deets of what else is all-inclusive during this two-hour, open bar happy hour experience...

Voted by Zagat as the #1 sandwich establishment in New York City and considered by several other media outlets like Gothamist, GrubStreet, and Eater as one of the top spots for the most authentic, imported Italian meats and cheeses around, you’ll be greeted with complimentary glasses of Prosecco when you first enter Alidoro’s new Midtown outpost(Boojie, we know, but it sets the mood just right for what you’re about to embark on.)

As you make your way towards the back of the establishment, where you’ll find a wooden banquet table stacked to the brim with tons of Italian meats and cheeses, you’ll be able to first choose from traditional Italian antipasto platters of salumi and formaggio, alongside pasta & potato salads, all generously lined up along the bar.

That’ll all do an excellent job of working up your appetite towards the main course of handmade Italian specialty sandwiches with a generous side of fresh mozzarella, which will be made on-site and right in front of you, thanks to Alidoro’s seasoned cheesemakers.

What’s that, getting full?! Well, leave room for plenty of dessert, because you’ll cap off the evening by devouring Alidoro’s signature spin on the traditional Italian Cannoli, which is made with a light, fluffy donut and filled with either a ricotta vanilla cream or Nutella ricotta cream, plus platters of panna cotta (chilled Italian custard served with fresh fruit), and freshly baked cookies and brownies. Yes please, and thank you!
