When you live in New York City, you're constantly seeking out the best local spots because, let's be real, they're the best the city has to offer. You'll go that extra mile in your Uber for that one spot where they make your favorite meal with love rather than go to the nearest chain for a quick fix.

Unfortunately, big brand chains are an unavoidable part of life. You can try to shop local as much as you can, but eventually you're gonna end up at a chain sooner or later scarfing down a meal that has been ordered a million times by a million other schmucks.

So, how do these brands rank up, and should we even care about them when we live in a city with the best food in the world?

The Harris Poll has unveiled their The 2016 Harris Poll EquiTrend Restaurant Brands of the Year where consumers can rank brands in different categories.

The poll has been around for 28 years now, and for the sixth straight year Subway has dominated the sandwich category.

Now, when someone in NYC tells you that they are going to Subway for lunch, you give them that glare and can easily shoot off eight places that are so much better.

In-N-Out Burger, the West coasts prized burger joint, reigns on top for best burger restaurant.

Granted, we would definitely try an In-N-Out if we had one just to see what the fuss is all about, and ever since a Shake Shack opened on the West Coast, we've been waiting for word when one will open here.

But, best? Well, we know of some pretty juicy spots dishing out serious burgers that make us forget that we don't have an In-N-Out burger to begin with.

This next one is gonna hurt Nonna.

Olive Garden was named best Italian dinning restaurant by this poll. Yikes. No one in NYC has time for Olive Garden when they can get nice ol' school dish from these fine Italian spots.

But how much do we care about this "poll" living in NYC? Chains are for guilty pleasures and cheat days. Like Fall Out Boy, crocs, or Shapely shoes.

Even then, we're still more drawn to Halal carts, bodega sandwiches, and, of course, baconeggandcheese.
