Being topless in public has been legal in New York City since 1992.

Feminists everywhere have been celebrating the law ever since, and in recent years we’ve seen bigger and bigger waves of #freethenipple.

In honor of Women's Equality day on Sunday, August 26th, woman are taking apart the boob taboo with the second annual Go Topless Day Parade.

GoTopless, the parade's organizer, was founded in 2007 to defend women's constitutional right to be as publicly bare-chested as men.

The national organization's website also provides news, a timeline of topless laws, and features a map detailing the topless laws in each state in the country.

Participants of the parade will gather at 58th Street and 8th Avenue at 11 a.m., march down Broadway from 1-2 p.m., and finally across 48th Street to rally at Dag Hammarskjold from 1:30-4 p.m.

If you fall behind at any point you’ll have no trouble finding your way back to the marchers, who will be under two giant boob balloons for the duration of the parade.

Go Topless president Nadine Gary says: “We’re going topless for the purpose of encouraging women to exercise their rights. It’s a celebration of our bodies and putting the shame behind us”.
