In NYC, there is no liking something. You either love it or hate it.
And New Yorkers seem to have very strong feelings toward their home baseball teams.
The Yankees-Mets rivalry has been going down since the inception of inter-league play. And it's no secret that each borough holds their own loyalties.
Apparently, we love the Mets more than the Yankees. Did that surprise you as much as it did us?
According to a study by Quinnipiac University, across the 5 boroughs, we seem to favor the Mets 45 to 43%.
Not sure why we'd pick the Mets over a team that's won more games in the MLB than any other one.

But I guess we can't figure that out any more than we can figure out why de Blasio is a Red Sox fan (seriously, wtf?).
You can catch the season openers next week when the Mets play the Atlanta Braves on Monday and the Yankees when they take on the Tampa Bay Rays the following Monday.
