Wanna Crush It in 2018? Have Your Best Year Ever with a Lil' Help from This Reading App 📱📚

We all know that reading is a great way to keep our minds sharp and full of useful knowledge. However, finding the time to escape from our busy lives and polish off a book can often be easier said than done.

Between our jobs, social lives and family obligations, we tend to have pretty hectic schedules that leave little time for engrossing ourselves in a good read. But what if we told you that there was a way to read more without taking up all of your precious free time?

Yep, if one of your New Year’s resolutions happens to be reading more, you’re in luck. The Berlin-based startup, Blinkist, is on a mission to help you conquer your reading list this year with their awesome app.

Blinkist summarizes non-fiction books into 15-minute “blinks” that make reading possible for even the busiest of people. The condensed books are carefully curated by the Blinkist team, conveying the key concepts and ideas of the book in clear, concise manner that’s easy to absorb.

The key insights are broken down into one page “blinks” that can be easily read on your phone. So, you can finally read up on physics of the future without having to spend five hours skimming through hundreds of pages of filler text.

Now, if you’re the type of person who begins to nod off at the mere mention of non-fiction, don’t worry. You don’t have to bore yourself with the biographies of people who have been dead for over a century (unless, you’re into that sort of thing, of course.) The Blinkist app contains a massive collection over 2,500 summarized books that span a wide range of topics.

Whether you’re looking to dive into a book about politics, read about science and technology, discover new business strategies, gain a better understanding of investing, or you know, learn how to run a drug cartel, Blinkist has a book that’s sure to pique your interests.

Since the beginning of every year is the perfect time to set goals and be the best version of yourself, you’ll be glad to know that Blinkist also has tons of books that focus on personal growth and self-improvement. This particular category features everything from classic Dale Carnegie books and popular works from Malcolm Gladwell to fascinating TED Talks that will make you smarter and expand your intellectual horizon.

If your day is so busy you can’t even spare 15 minutes to read, Blinkist has a solution for that as well. Most of the summarized books in the Blinkist library also have a 15-minute audio version that you can listen to on the go. So instead of staring at those Dr. Z subway ads in an attempt to occupy yourself, (and more importantly, avoid eye contact with strangers), you can read or listen to an entire book about content marketing strategies during your morning commute.

Blinkist is available for download on both Apple and Android devices, and the app is incredible easy to use. The homepage of the app features the Blinkist Daily Pick, followed by a “For You” section that contains suggestions based on your past reads. You can also browse through lists of curated, new, and trending titles or search through the different genres of summaries. Once you find a book you want to read, all you have to do is click on the little plus sign next to the title to instantly add it to your Blinkist library, and you’re good to go.

As far as cost is concerned, Blinkist offers a few different price points for the app-based service. There’s a free version that only lets you read the changing daily pick. As well as two paid versions: Blinkist Plus and Blinkist Premium.

So instead of staring at those Dr. Z subway ads in an attempt to occupy yourself, you can read or listen to an entire book during your morning commute.

The Blinkist Plus subscription, which costs $49.99 a year, grants you access to the entire library of Blinkist summaries. It also allows you to highlight noteworthy things within the summaries and read your blinks offline.

The premium version, which costs $79.99 a year, comes with all bells and whistles of the plus subscription, and also gives you access to the audio version of summaries. With the premium subscription, you can also sync your highlights to Evernote or read your blinks from a Kindle.

If you ask us, that seems like a small price to pay for having an infinite amount of knowledge and wisdom at your fingertips.
