The team behind the best bar in the world have done it again.
After opening The Dead Rabbit in 2013, which quickly received recognition as the World’s Best Bar at Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards, Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry have opened a new bar.
Blacktail, their new 120-seat waterfront bar, will transport New Yorkers to Prohibition-era Cuba.
They’ve named the bar after the luxury planes that flew sober New Yorkers to Havana during the Prohibition, and have stocked the bar with all the appropriate period pieces.
This includes Hemingway-esque stools, Havana-sourced antiques, and live Cuban jazz performances twice a week. The bar will also offer period appropriate drinks as well as drinkware.
The 88-page bar menu will offer over 40 types of drinks under the categories of highball, punch, sour, old-fashioned, and cocktail. They’ll be served in their original glassware.

You’ll be able to enjoy these many, many drinks alongside one of chef Ryan Schmidtberger’s Latin-influenced dishes, which include chicken lollipops, Cuban sandwiches including rabbit and pork shoulder, and sugarcane-skewered Gulf shrimp.
The bar and main room will seat over 130 people, but with the amount of traffic expected in this place, consider yourself lucky if you manage to find a seat.
