Coney Island is not just known for its superhuman hot dog eating contest and overcrowded beaches.

Each year, mermaids and mermen from all over the world march in Coney Island's annual Mermaid Parade.

This year though, our seafaring pals may be in trouble.

The 35th annual Mermaid Parade is in need of funding—crowdfunding that is.

The Mermaid Parade is a production of Coney Island USA, a not-for-profit arts organization that operates from the corner of Coney Island.

Each year the parade eats up a huge chunk of Coney Island USA's very tight budget.

They are asking New Yorkers to make a tax-deductible donation to help them continue their programming to make this year’s parade the greatest one of them all.

They're only currently at a fraction of their $50,000 goal, which will go toward obtaining city permits, porta potties, tents, security and other necessary equipment.

You can make your tax-deductible donation right here.

If you're just crazy enough to join em', you can also go apply to march in the parade yourself.
