How many times have you seen a cat dressed in clothes? Okay, so how many times have you seen a happy cat in clothes?
Less than one? Less than less than one? Probably because cat’s aren't big fans of human clothes, or even most human interaction for that matter.
Despite cat complaints, however, they have lived to be dressed another year.
The Algonquin Hotel hosted their 10th annual Cat Fashion Show on August 10th.
The show took place in the hotel lobby yesterday from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and cats took the catwalk (or just… the walk?) at 6 p.m. The cats wore clothing designed by Ada Nieves, a certified animal fashion designer from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
As every year’s fashion show has a different theme, this year they decided upon the theme Through the Decades.
So, naturally, the cats were dressed up as “the iconic looks of the hotel’s most famous guests and patrons,” Nieves says, “including Al Hirschfeld, Michael Feinstein, Marilyn Monroe, John Barrymore, and many more”.

The show actually has a very good cause. The aim of this year’s show was to raise $10,000 for the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. That should make you feel better about the $50 cover charge you paid.
100% of the proceeds went to the Alliance, and if you paid your due you were lucky enough to not only watch the show, but partake in an auction as well as a reception with delicious hors d'oeuvres.
Above all else though, you’ll get to watch some of the cutest, probably angriest cats ever strut their stuff dressed as iconic figures through the ages.
