Oddly enough, a season known for its ghosts and ghouls can also prove to be one of the most romantic– so we've got plenty of suggestions to help you bob for the apple of your eye.
And if spooky situations isn't your idea of romance, don't worry, we gotchu. Fall is the coziest of seasons, after all.

1. Hit Up One Of These Awesome Food Festivals
We know food and wine are two of our favorites things, so we're guessing your date might be a pretty big fan as well! Luckily for us all, The Food Network's 10th annual New York City Wine and Food Festival is coming up this October 12th-15th.
With over 80 delicious events to choose from, you're sure to find something to whet the appetite of even the pickiest potential SO– and be sure to take a look at our list of some of the coolest among them here!
And even if you or your new bae is livin' that vegan life, no need to fear! Show that you care and surprise him or her with tickets to the Vegan Food and Drink festival this October 1st! This traveling fest features vendors from around the country that are sure to please even a committed carnivore.
The event will take place from 11 am -7 pm on Randall's Island and feature brews, wines, and spirits, along with vegan versions of comfort food favorites like ribs, burgers, and cupcakes. Hungry yet?
2. Go Shopping Together at the Grand Bazaar
Located at 77th St and Columbus Avenue, this trendy uptown weekly flea market is the largest in New York, and sports a different theme every Sunday! On the agenda for October, you'll find a craft-themed pop up on the 8th, artisanal sweets on the 15th, and a scary Halloween special on the 28th.
With over 180 rotating vendors of everything from watches to furniture, you and your date are sure to find something at the Grand Bazaar worth taking home– or might even end up going home together.
3. Freak Out Together At A Haunted House
Being scared out of your wits is as good of an excuse to cozy up as any– amirite?
If you think some spooky thrills will help get you and your date in the mood, you're sure to find what you're looking for at hip NYC haunted house Blood Manor. Open on select dates starting October 6th, this premier attraction is located in NYC's Hudson Square district at 163 Varick Street, and features 5,000 square feet of themed rooms, corridors, and a labyrinth of passageways "designed to to maximize one’s fears."
You're sure to meet your worst nightmare among the extensive cast of creepy characters– but don't worry too much. Actors aren't allowed to touch patrons, so the only one getting freaky with your date is going be you!
4. Indulge Your Sweet Tooth at the Big Chocolate Show's Date Night
The only thing more of an aphrodisiac than food– wine and shopping? CHOCOLATE and COCKTAILS. On Friday October 6th, The Big Chocolate Show will be coming back to town with a Date Night!
Located at The Terminal Stores at 269 11th Avenue, this event will feature chocolate from all over the world from tons of great chocolatiers, along with special date night activities. An additional charge will grant couples access to exclusive walk-around tasting "A Deliciously Decadent Evening of Chocolate & Cocktails."
With some help from The Cocktail Guru, this event will be serving up unlimited tastings of delectable desserts and dishes paired with custom libations, and will even feature a guest appearance by award winning pasty chef and chocolatier Johnny Iuzzini. We're sure your date will be melting in your mouth.
5. Dance The Night Away At One Of These Epic Halloween Bashes
If you and your date happen to be a couple of party animals, there is some seriously sweet October nightlife more than worth checking out! There's the Halloween Masquerade Ball, The Monster Ball 2017, The Haunted Mansion Party, and even a Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air 90's Theme Haunted Halloween Party.
Some of these events even offer hefty cash prizes for sexiest and best couples costumes if you and your date are up to the challenge!
6. Booze Out at One of These Oktoberfest Events
We hope you don't need beer goggles if you plan on having some fun with your date, but some tasty, Germanic fun might help raise both of your spirits. 7. Sail Over to Governor's Island for the Night of 1,000 Jack O Lanterns
If they're the light of your life, this huge, illuminated celebration might be the perfect place to let them know it! At select times on the weekend of October 26th to 29th, Governor's Island will be cast alight by over 1,000 Jack O Lanterns, each one freshly hand-carved for your enjoyment by tri-state area artists.
Your evening will kick off with a romantic ferry ride over from the Battery Maritime Building and will even feature some 3D Sculpted Pumpkins and Live Carving Demonstrations. Sounds like a step above your usual candle-lit dinner to us!
