Vacation: the ever elusive dream that our bank accounts and 9-5's simply won't allow.
Thus, we are resigned to scrolling through other people's tropical adventures on our Instagram feed, knowing full well that they are probably not having as much fun as they appear to be but being jealous nonetheless.
But do not fear, for there is hope for our unfulfilled summer wishes.
Luckily, there is no shortage of beach-y bars right in New York City that will take you from concrete jungle to actual jungle as soon as you step through the door.
It's the perfect way to get away from the daily grind, without breaking the bank.
Read on to discover all of the dreamy, nautical spots to hit up this summer in NYC.
1. Marina Cafe (154 Mansion Avenue - Staten Island)
The journey to Staten Island is worth it for the gorgeous views-- we promise.

The Marina Cafe will straight up make you feel like you're on vacation. The restaurant overlooks the Great Kills Harbor, and offers delightful tropical drinks in addition to some amazing seafood.
2. Surf Bar (139 North 6th Street - Brooklyn)
There's a good chance that a visit here will make you forget you're in Williamsburg. Surf Bar not only has some of the best shrimp tacos and Mai Tais, they also have dope beach themed decor, including actual SAND lining the floor.
This, along with the palm trees and wooden picnic tables, make for a super laid back atmosphere and brief escape from city life.
3. DRAM (177 South 4th Street - Brooklyn)
If you're looking for a cozy, tropical hideaway right in your own city, look no further than DRAM.
The place is small, so is ideal for parties of 4 or fewer, but what it lacks in space it makes up for in ambiance.

Wood paneling, cozy lighting, and a kayak hanging above the bar create the perfect setting to enjoy one of their signature cocktails.
And these drinks pack a punch. We recommend the "Some Velvet Morning": pineapple rum, coffee liqueur, lime, orgeat, orange liqueur. YUM.

4. Fish Bar (237 East 5th Street)
New York City is basically the home of quirky little dive bars. It's just how we roll.
Fish Bar will take you back to the good old days; you know, when people actually talked to each other and paid with cash instead of via an iPad.

Cheap drinks, super friendly bartenders, and whimsical decor (including a disco ball) makes for an excellent way to spend a Saturday night.
And don't even worry if all your friends bail on you at the last second to watch Netflix; this place is full of regulars who will be more than happy to chat you up and make you feel welcome.
5. The Rusty Knot (425 West Street)
We think it's safe to assume that 99% of the time we would all rather be on a beach sipping from a drink with an umbrella in it. Doesn't that sound amazing?
The Rusty Knot may fall short when it comes to the beach part, but the drinks are nothing short of tropical bliss. Their signature, named after the bar itself, is basically a frozen mojito. It's amazing.
They also serve a Spiced Colada, a highly popular drink served in a coconut cup. This place gets pretty crowded on the weekends, but for the caliber of the drinks, it's totally worth it.
6. Otto's Shrunken Head (538 East 14th Street)
If you haven't been to Otto's yet, you are seriously missing out.
It is the dive bar to trump all dive bars, and simply has one of the most unique vibes you'll find in NYC.

Their tiki drinks are their signature, along with the amazing DJs and cave-like atmosphere.
You've got to try the Shrunken Skirt - a delicious mango elixir that will make you forget all about the cruise your parents decided to take this year without you.
