Photographer Craig Ward took to the subways recently, with his own Mythbusters manifesto. 

He'd been reminded of the old saying "When you hold onto subway railings, you shake hands with 100 people all at once." 

So soon enough, Ward struck out on all 22 subway lines with sterile sponges to swab as many surfaces as he could find.

When he finished his "data collection," he grew his samples in petri dishes that were color-coded to correspond with the subway line the sample was collected from. Green for the 6 line, orange for the F line, and so on. 

What did Ward find? Turns out, there's e.coli, staphylococcus, salmonella, and more! Tasty. Check out the full collection here.
