Now that the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has gone up and there are multiple Holiday Villages open around New York City, we're officially into the holiday season. It's that time before Thanksgiving when everyone seems to wait for winter to really hit.

But this year, we're just waiting for it to hit at all. Thanks, El Niño. 

So despite the temperature, the world's largest gingerbread village is coming to the Hall of Science in Queens on November 13th. 

Designed by master chef, creator of GingerBread Lane, and miniature city planner Jon Lovitch, the record breaking gingerbread "villages" have merited Guinness Book of World Records status two years running. 

Others have supposedly made larger villages, but Lovitch's last creation was "continuous," as it'd been designed in a circular format and met all the other criteria: handmade, edible materials only, and contiguous structures.

This year's gingerbread village will span 500 square feet with 1050 houses, a double decker carousel (think Coney Island), and even a Santa-themed department store reminiscent of Gimbles.

Not to mention, the candy factory. Yes, Lovitch will incept candy by making a candy factory out of candy, and it the interior of said factory is supposed to be visible as visitors climb stairs to the exhibit.

The exhibit will run run from November 13th through January 10th at the New York Hall of Science at Flushing Meadows Corona Park (47-01 111th Street, Queens). 

All the gingerbread houses will be given away for free on the last day at 11 a.m. and it's recommended to arrive early.
