There's a certain vibe that a lot of businesses like to cash in on. 

You know... the the types of businesses that have a basket of dog treats at the counter, or maybe a bowl of water set up just outside the door at all times.

These aforementioned businesses might be coffee shops, bodegas, or even restaurants; establishments that adore pets and want people to feel comfortable bringing their furry friends around. 

Until recently, there were lots of restrictions on where animals were allowed to be present in food-serving NYC establishments.

Basically, the rule was: no pets allowed. 

But now, restaurants in the State of New York can open their patio spaces to (wo)man's best friend: dogs. 

It is called the "Dining with Dogs" Bill, and it's effective immediately.

Yes, as long as the restaurant is cool with it, you're allowed to bring your dog to dinner-- as long as you're being seated in an outdoor space. 

New York State Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal authored the bill, and part of her motivation was to help restaurant owners "... cash in on all the doting dog owners throughout our state who had previously stayed home just to be with their pup."

With all due respect, Linda, if someone's excuse for not going out is that they can't find someone to dog-sit, then newsflash: they probably don't actually want to go out with you to begin with. That being said, we digress.
