Today is national chocolate day. Which is excellent news, because it means you're practically required to have some chocolate, doesn't it?

Of course, you could have yourselves some chocolate chip cookies. These might go delicious with some steamy, rich, hot chocolate, wouldn't they?

When it's becoming chilly outside, when it's rainy and gloomy, there's nothing that can improve moods like a piping hot cup of hot chocolate.

Now that we've convinced you that a cup of hot chocolate is what you need in your life today, there's no moment that's more disastrous than the first sip of a hot chocolate that isn't delicious.

When you've decided to treat yourself, it's devastating when the treat isn't good. When you buy a hot chocolate that isn't delicious, you find yourself contending with questions like, "should you drink it anyway?" and "is there a point to life?"

So, we've compiled the best spots to grab hot chocolate in New York City below so that never, ever happens to you. Once you've slurped on the hot chocolate below, why not also try out the best chocolate in NYC, too?

1. La Maison Du Chocolat (30 Rockefeller Plaza)

If La Maison Du Chocolat sounds fancy, that's just because it is. You've probably seen the shop, chilling beside Rockefeller Plaza, tempting tourists and socialites. Here's your permission. We want you to go in and get the hot chocolate, because it's really that delicious.

Soothing, rich, and scalding hot (it doesn't really scald you, but you know what we mean) we have dreams about this hot chocolate. It's very expensive, but it's worth it. Tell them not to forget the marshmallows.

Are we in Paris or are we in NYC? When we're inside La Maison Du Chocolate, sipping on hot chocolate and munching on a chocolate macaroon, we're really not sure.

2. Roni-Sue's Chocolates (148 Forsyth Street)

redinnyc It's a hot chocolate kind of day. But yes, it's #internationalcoffeeday and I had a latte in the morning too. β˜”οΈπŸ’¨β˜•οΈ

Roni-Sue's chocolates caught your eye? We feel that. It's caught our eyes, and our hearts, but mostly our tastebuds for a very long time.

They've got iced hot chocolate, which sounds like an oxymoron but we're not sure if oxymorons are allowed to be this delicious.

As for the hot hot chocolate at Roni-Sue's, it's the perfect amount chocolatey, the perfect amount thick, and just as refreshing as a dip in a pool on a hot summer's day. Or, just as refreshing as curling up under blankets on a cold rainy day.

Basically, it's delicious and you should try it.

3. Bibble & Sip (251 West 51st Street)

sarah.kwid Hello New York! Thanks for keeping me caffeinated... with alpacas!

We don't even know where to start with Bibble & Sip. We're too busy going too nuts about how delicious and perfect these hot chocolates are.

Okay, we're ready to talk about them now. They've got a jumbo marshmallow hot chocolate that's not only filled to the brim with creamy, delicious hot chocolate but there's also a jumbo marshmallow submerged in the cup. Really, it's more than decadent.

They've also got a frozen hot chocolate which might just be the solution to global warming (we're kidding, but it is seriously delicious).

4. Boqueria (various NYC locations)

Well, if you want to get twisted we think you should gulp your share of the sangria at Boqueria. It's some of the best sangria in the entire city.

We know we didn't come here to talk about sangria, but we just had to give you that little quip. Now, we're ready to discuss the main event. The hot chocolate.

If you know what's good for you, you'll order the churros con hot chocolate. Then, you will dip your churros in your hot chocolate. It's a great way to finish your meal. The thick, dark hot chocolate pairs perfectly with those banging churros.
