In the 1980s, photographer Bruce Davidson worked as a photographer for national magazines such as LIFE and Magnum Photo Agency, and has had his works appear in several exhibitions at the world’s best museums.

His photographs, notably those taken in New York City, have been widely exhibited and published across the country.

He is especially known for photographing communities usually hostile to any outsiders (read: New York City in the early 1980s).

And if the below photos from the NYC subway system in 1980 are any indication, it looks like New Yorkers have really lightened up their mood quite a bit.

Hmmm, maybe the MTA really has improved the quality of life for subway commuters in NYC?

(Well, maybe not as much as they should, but you get the idea...)
