New Yorkers either find high-traffic locations like Times Square, Herald Square, 9th Avenue, and the Brooklyn waterfront wonderfully appealing or supremely annoying.

The reality is that the busy nature of these places will never change, but areas themselves do (especially as the years have passed).

Streetfilms.org recently released a short film called NYC Streets Metamorphosis, which visually illustrates the ways in which NYC’s most trafficked plazas and streets have changed over the past 10 years.

The film mostly highlights the changes made by the former Mayor Bloomberg, but also that the current Mayor and Vision Zero are working to keep it going.
