Are you a night owl or a morning person?
I personally side with night owls; I mean, you can barely pry me out of bed at 9 a.m. for my morning classes. I had to be a morning person before-- of course, not by choice-- and it sucked.
Every minute I spend in my bed is a cherished moment, and I'm more than happy to sacrifice nighttimes to be wide awake, if it means avoiding an early morning.
Honestly, I think that New York City was made for night people.
New York is vast, and it never shuts down or passes out early, and neither should you.
So here are 8 reasons why it's better to be a night owl while living in New York City.
1. Everything opens late
Seriously, everything. Good luck trying to go shopping before 10 a.m. in NYC, because barely anything opens before then.
Some bars and restaurants that you might frequent may not even open their doors to customers until 3 in the afternoon, or at 5 for happy hour.
The fact that everything opens so late in NYC should just tell you that being a morning person is futile in the city. If you want to get somewhere early, you'll be waiting for a while, guaranteed.
2. Everything closes late
This isn't your hometown, with a town curfew of 11 p.m. This is NYC, and everything stays open super late here to fuel your night owl tendencies.
Trying to go anywhere in the 'burbs is such a hassle because you know that you'll show up and it'll be closed by like 10 p.m. What's up with that?!
You can always count on NYC to keep the doors open 'til at least midnight or 1 a.m., and not to mention all those twenty-four hour spots that always manage to save your life at the right time.
3. Food places stay open late for you--and some may even deliver
Late nights spent at work or out with friends will always result in you needing some kind of sustenance, usually in the form of greasy diet ruiners like pizza, fries, or Chinese food.
These high quality establishments stay up late, just for you, so that you can consume what you crave after-hours.
And get this-- some of these places will even deliver delicious foods, right to your door during late nights! What could be better than that?!
4. You don't have a curfew
You don't live at home anymore. Your parents aren't enforcing your bedtime, and they're sure as hell not warning you to be home by 1.
You should go out. Go get pizza. Go out drinking. Or, you know, stay in and watch Netflix. Totally your call, but either way, you have options.
