If you’re reading this, it’s too late.

Because you’ve probably seen the picture of “the dress” and you’re freaking out over what goddamn color it is.

On Wednesday night, Tumblr user Swiked uploaded a picture of a two-color dress asking her followers to figure out what color it is. And the Internet lost their sh*t. Nothing will ever be the same again. Who knew such a lo-res picture could make the entire world question their existence?

Friends, strangers, lovers, and enemies alike bickered over whether the dress was black and blue or white and gold. Some people saw blue and gold, further complicating the matter. Even Buddy The Elf gave us his 2 cents as he felt the dress was actually green and red. What a time to be alive!

Within a day, almost every digital publication offered its opinion and explanation of what the f*ck is wrong with this picture. Vox brought in a color perception scientist, Wired asked a neuroscientist, and BuzzFeed fed the flames with quizzes pitting the teams against each other.

In the end, no matter how times you bring up the rods and cones and spheres and squares in our eyes, people will always (wrongly) claim to see white and gold (sorry ‘bout it).
