In case you haven't noticed, mashup desserts are all the rage right now in New York City.
There's been the rainbow bagel, everything donut, and even a rainbow donut has been making noise.
But if there's one dessert that takes the figurative cake for being our favorite, it's the macaron.
So when talented pastry chef Francois Payard recently announced that he had mashed together macarons and donuts, we literally had to catch ourselves from fainting.
The first macaronut flavor to launch will be strawberries and cream on March 20th, which coincides with National Macaroon Day.
The dessert holiday was invented by Francois Payard himself as a way to celebrate the delectable French food, while also allowing any other New York City bakery to donate to City Harvest for each and every macaron sold that very day.
