Gotta Get Down on Friday: 8 Best Bang-for-Your-Buck Bars in NYC

Friday night: it's one of the best partying nights in the city.

You know we're right. Drinking on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are always fun, but nothing really beats getting wasted on a Friday night.

On Friday you've got a week worth of working under your belt, and you're ready to let off some steam.

The best part is that you don't have to get up and do anything tomorrow morning, so you can get crazy in New York City until the early hours of the morning on Fridays.

If you get out early, though, you can hit some of NYC's hottest Friday happy hour deals, and get tipsy for less. Then, you'll be ready to go all night long. Read on to find out about NYC's best Friday night deals.

1. Double Wide (505 East 12th Street)

Double Wide, we see you and your chill Friday prices in our dreams. Double Wide is a fun, no-frills, friendly dive bar with amazing music and fun people who like to get down.

We also love Double Wide because on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., they've got $3 domestic beers, $4 craft beers and well drinks, and $5 frozen margaritas.

Can't get there before 8 p.m.? Don't worry, they've got $12 pitchers all night.

Friday nights at Double Wide are a total mess for your liver, but they're great fun for your wallet.

2. Three of Cups (83 1st Avenue)

Uh, Three of Cups, we love you more than we could say.

First of all, the brunch is so excellent: the mimosas and bloody Marys flow freely, and the eggs benedict with prosciutto are pretty heavenly.

Plus, it's hard to top their Friday deals. Let us lay it out for you. They've got a happy hour in their lounge from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and it means $2 PBRs, all the rest of their beer and well drinks cost $4, $6 shots, and you get $2 off all other drinks.

So, yeah, everything is pretty excellent at Three of Cups on Fridays. If you eat at their restaurant from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, you'll get to enjoy $4 beer, wine, well drinks, and sangria.

3. Tavern on Third (380 Third Avenue)

Fridays at Tavern on Third, holla! Everything is completely fired up at Tavern on Third on Fridays, which is why they've dubbed it Fired Up Fridays.

Here's what goes on. They've got $5 Fireball shots all night, and they've also got $4 Budweiser and Bud Light bottles.

So, yeah, you can get pretty blasted for pretty cheap at Tavern on Third on Friday evenings, and a very fun party crowd. Like, really, it's a hopping place to be, and it gets crowded. If you come here on a Friday night, it better be because you're prepared to get wild.

4. Rye (247 South 1st Street - Brooklyn)

Get to Rye on Fridays between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. We mean it.

For a crisp five-dollar-bill (it doesn't have to be crisp...) you can munch on a tasty cheeseburger. For $5 more, you can sip on an Old Fashioned made with Old Overholt Rye.

So you'll be satiated and buzzed, and you'll be ready to take Friday night by storm. Or, you'll be ready to head back to your apartment and pass out, because sometimes a tasty cheeseburger is just as good as a sleeping pill.

Either way, Rye has a ton of delicious options aside from the cheeseburger: the meatloaf sandwich is something from another universe, and the scotch egg, smoked salmon, ribs, and bacon mac and cheese all make it worth a visit.

5. 1020 Bar (1020 Amsterdam Avenue)

Want a fun night out that isn't hard on the wallet? If so, then 1020 Bar is your move. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., they've got $4 well drinks and shots, $3 tap beers, and $2 bottle beers.

So, whoever said the early bird gets the worm got the phrase wrong. They should have said, the early NYC partier gets the $2 beers.

Have you ever paid $2 for a Yuengling, a Brooklyn Brewery beer, or a Red Hook beer? Yeah, you haven't, because it's rare AF.

This bar is also fun for games. They've got darts and pool, and relaxed prices even when it isn't happy hour. It's an Upper West Side dive bar through and through.

6. 169 Bar (169 East Broadway)

Are you surprised that 169 Bar has one of the best Friday night happy hour deals in the whole city?

We, for one, are not. 169 Bar is one of the most extremely lovely bars in this whole metropolis with its eccentric crowd, its decorative atmosphere and of course its leopard print pool table.

Also, we've really got to say, the dumplings and the mac and cheese here are just so delicious.

But, okay, the Friday happy hour: that's what we're here to talk about. Fridays at 169 Bar they've got $3 beer cans, $1 off drafts, and $2 off everything else from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays.

7. 4th Down (750 Grand Street - Brooklyn)

From 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays at 4th Down in Williamsburg, they've got $4 craft beer pints. Now, craft beer pints are delicious, and they get you drunk. Plus, they're exorbitantly priced at every other bar in the world, so don't take the significance of this deal lightly.

They've also got $4 well drinks and $4 shots of Jameson. We promise you that you'll pay much more than that for well drinks and shots of Jameson at every other bar in the city.

[anad2]

They don't serve food, but you're allowed to bring your own food. Plus, they've got plenty of room, 15 or so TVs, and a few arcade games. Including a beer pong video game. Yes, you read that right. A beer pong video game.

Come check it out for yourself, but do it between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on a Friday.

8. 68 Jay Street Bar (68 Jay Street - Brooklyn)

labelme.taylor

Uh, $3 drafts and $4 well drinks? Yes, on Fridays at 68 Jay Street Bar from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., they've got $3 drafts and $4 well drinks.

Whoever said you couldn't get drunk for cheap in NYC has obviously never heard of 68 Jay Street Bar's Friday afternoon happy hour deal.

They've also got live music most Friday nights, and lovely exposed brick and high arched ceilings. It's definitely a friendly bar with a distinct culture, and in a word, it rocks.

All we really need to say about it, is that it's a dive bar that'll show you a good time.
