We New Yorkers love our coffee. It's a fact. It's science.

Well, at this point, we're not sure if it's less about how much we love our coffee and more about how much we need our coffee.

Either way, on National Coffee Day this Thursday, September 29th, a dozen businesses are celebrating with free coffees and promotions.

As New Yorkers, we are blessed with a coffee shop on basically every other block, so you can bet that we're going to be taking advantage of all this free caffeine. We do run on Dunkin' but it ain't exclusive.

According to RetailMeNot, nearly half (48%) of consumers spend money on coffee every week, spending an average of $18 a week. This adds up to a whopping $936 a year on coffee alone!

Anyway, we should really be drinking all the coffee we can before, you know, climate change takes it away from us.

As reported by Thrillist, here are all the places in NYC you can snag yo' freebies.

At participating locations, Krispy Kreme will be handing out a free small coffee and classic glazed donut. No purchase necessary!

Download The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's new mobile app to score a free shot of espresso.

If you buy a fresh food item at participating Peet's Coffee locations, they will give you a free medium coffee.

So it's not completely free, but Dunkin' Donuts will be selling medium coffees for 66 cents, to celebrate the chain's 66 years of getting us to work in the morning.

Also, Starbucks isn't doing a free coffee promotion unfortunately but they will be donating a rust-resistant coffee tree to farmers in need for every cup of Mexico Chiapas coffee sold on National Coffee Day. We gueeeess that's kind of nice. Whatever.

If you're one of the pod people, Keurig will be selling some of the Green Mountain Coffee pods (Breakfast Blend, Nantucket Blend, Hazelnut, etc) for 20% off, and Green Mountain Coffee Varieties (The Original Donut Shop) for 15% off with the code "GREENSAVINGS."

And if you don't have time to shop for coffee on the 29th, this promotion will be going on until October 2nd.

Lastly, and it's not free, but illy cafe has absurd deals that run through the end of the month, so if you're sick of dropping nearly a grand on coffee elsewhere, hit up some of their deals this week:
