See ya later, Staten Island?
By now, we are sure you have heard about the Brexit where over 17 million people in the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.
The fallout of the event has been insane, and the futures of the United Kingdom, the European Union and many other nations are all up in the air. Of course, stupidly enough, this turmoil has inspired one city councilman to take action in his own borough.
Councilman Joe Borelli is calling for Staten Island to leave the city, an argument that is decades old and has been voted for in the past.
Back in 1993, 65% of voters on Staten Island voted to leave the city. That vote eventually fizzled out in the New York State Assembly.
Some argue the move will hurt Staten Island in the long term.
No city means no NYPD or Ferry service, something we're sure that residents of Staten Island would miss greatly.
These concerns simply do not deter the Councilman and he is still with the idea.

Staten Island might feel like the black sheep of the city, but it's still a part of it. They're going to give us the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, rainbow doughnuts and the Wu-Tang Clan.
The #Brexit is inspiring... especially 2 us on #StatenIsland...Perhaps time 2 rethink what many supported #secession pic.twitter.com/rLoBfPitcY

So, Staten Island, from the bottom of our hearts, just stay. We know what seceding looks like. People have thought about trying before, and they'll try again.
