New York has been experiencing a heat wave this week (also, generally this entire summer) and it is wholly unpleasant.

We’ve been hoping―damn near praying―for the cooler weather to come around and put us out of our misery.

Well, you know what they say. Be careful what you wish for.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, America can expect one of the coldest winters yet.

Founder Robert B. Thomas’s “secret formula” to the Almanac, consists of meteorology, solar cycles, and climatology, and has predicted that temperatures and precipitation will be above normal across the Northeast and Midwest this winter.

The gods will extra bless the Pacific Northwest by throwing down some extra rain and adding in extra chilly weather.

In a sick and somewhat funny plot twist, however, the Appalachian region, along with more Southern areas, will stay a few degrees warmer this winter. Considering the Appalachians are a pretty popular ski spot, hell freezing over might not be the best news.
