Tired of seeing ten posts of a lunch date on Instagram?

Tired of having people comment on the fact that you’re the one posting ten pictures of your lunch date?

Instagram is here to solve your troubles.

Starting today, Instagram is allowing you to create your very own stories.

Bearing a striking resemblance to Snapchat’s story feature, Instagram’s story feature allows you to combine as many photos and memories from your day into one concise slideshow.

All privacy rules apply, so only your friends (or whoever you share with) will be able to see your story while it stays hidden from your unwanteds.

Unlike Snapchat, Insta-stories allow you to swipe back and forth through pictures at your own leisure, without the pressure of 1-10 seconds getting in the way of your viewing experience.

But if you set your Snapchat story for one second we have an entirely different problem…

These daily slideshow updates disappear after 24 hours, so you can start a new slideshow the very next day with little chance of overwhelming your friends.

To view your friends’ stories, check the top bar of your Instagram feed. Their face (or whatever their profile image is) will show up in a circle if they’ve created a new one. Check out the video below to see the new feature in action.

Updates for Android and iOS should come out within a few weeks, so keep a lookout on your Instagram.
