The streets of Coney Island are about to be flooded with mermaids, pirates, life-sized lobsters, and every other magical sea creature you can think of this weekend.
A much loved tradition, Coney Island's Mermaid Parade is back this Saturday, June 18th, and is just one of the many reasons you should head out to Coney Island this summer.
Every year, those who participate in the parade somehow manage to outdo themselves by creating insanely wacky, awesome, and creative costumes.
The parade will feature roughly 3,000 participants decked out in their undersea finest.
An added bonus is that the Coney Art Walls exhibition will also be complete in time for the parade!
In addition to marveling at the parade participants, you can also check out some dope street art commissioned by both local and international street artists.
If you're feeling up to it, whip together a mermaid costume of your own and join in on the fun - we promise you'll feel right at home!
Not convinced? Check out some of the looks from last years parade. We'll let those do the convincing for us.
