New Year's Eve in New York City is a magical sort of experience– one that's best celebrated far, far away from Times Square.

If spending the night packed together with 200 people in a dive bar doesn't sound like your thing (although if it is, we got you covered), how about joining the Midnight Run instead?

Seriously, if you start off 2017 with a 4-mile run under your belt, we're pretty sure you're automatically granted a guilt-free six months of eating junk food.

The New York Road Runners' Midnight Run kicks off at, you guessed it, midnight, as the rest of NYC will be huddling around for a glimpse at the ball drop.

In case you're not familiar with Central Park's "inner loop," this is where the course will take you:

"Mile 1: Start on the 72nd Street Transverse near Bethesda Terrace and head east. Turn left (north) at East Drive and run north, ascending Cat Hill.

Mile 2: Continue north and and pass Engineers' Gate (East 90th Street). Turn left onto the 102nd Street Transverse.

Mile 3: Turn left onto West Drive and run south through a series of three rolling hills as you pass the Reservoir on your left.

[anad]

Mile 4: Enjoy a downhill, then a flat section. Turn left onto the 72nd Street Transverse and finish just west of Bethesda Terrace."

As reported by Time Out NY, members can register for $55 and non-members can join for $60.

If you don't want to completely miss out on partying, there's a dance party at 10 p.m. pre-run. Rally at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park and as the fireworks display begins overhead, everyone will begin running. Tavern on the Green is also hosting a pre- or post-race party.
