These establishments were created after a small bar in Brooklyn was closed, but the demand for killer burgers continued after the bar shuttered its doors. 

Recognizing the demand, Euripides Pelekanos, otherwise known as the "Head Bear," opened their flagship Bareburger in Astoria, Queens, where Euripides grew up.

After substantial success and a huge following in Astoria, Bareburger franchised and opened two more restaurants within the first two years.
